The Krishnamurti Centre

Last weekend my boyfriend took me to the Krishnamurti Centre in Hampshire for a day full of rest and meditation. It was nice to escape and peacefully rest in the country air after two weeks traveling non stop, dehydrated skin to the OTT (over the top) air conditioning of which aircrafts seem to think appropriate.
I learnt about Krishnamurti who is regarded throughout the world as one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time. He did not expound any philosophy or religion, but rather talked of the things that concern all of us in our everyday life.  A lot of people don't really understand the problems of living in modern society. The stress Im sure a lot of people from work in the build up for Christmas I certainly know one or two people who really deserve a nights proper rest. Violence and corruption has been a problem for some time and the individual's search for security and happiness, the need for mankind to free itself from inner burdens of fear, anger, hurt, sorrow, and so on. He had the ability to unravel the subtle workings of the human mind and allow us to see the great importance of bringing our daily like to a happy mediative, spiritual quality.

I truly believe that on a day to day basis you should set the example to others around you the beauty of peace and serenity. Otto for example a highly excitable little pomeranian I fell in love with from the moment we brought him home, as soon as I practice my yoga and meditation he settles down, occasionally joining in. Bless him. Jo Jo my best friend captured a few pictures of this occurring yesterday.

Im feeling grateful today, I found this quote on my dear friend Sineads blog and it really struck me.

Three reasons to keep mindful of Gratitude –
  1. It reminds you of all the people in your life who make you happy, this could even be a stranger you pass each morning.
  2. It’s nigh impossible to worry about your weight when you give thanks that you are alive and healthy. It’s difficult to complain when you’re lucky enough to have a place called home and a computer to read this from.
  3. It nurtures a sense of thankfulness, we begin to feel more thankful and utter more often these two simple words that mean so much, “Thank you!” We all want to be appreciated at some level, thanking those around you releases a butterfly effect, that is as natural as it is beautiful – gorgeous Gratitude.

Here is some food for thought –

Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,

If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something,

For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.

During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations

Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge

Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes

They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary

Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.

A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.
