Urban Warrior

A few years ago I enrolled at a course at Central St martins, one of the most prestigious and competitive art school in the world, with an alumni to kill. Stella McCartney, John Galliano, Nick Brandt,  Hamish Bowels, Lucien Freud, Matthew Williamson, Lee McQueen, Richard Hamilton...and soooo may more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Saint_Martins_College_of_Art_and_Design#Notable_alumni

Fashion and Summer styling. I had the most amazing 2 weeks of my fashion life. Not only did we get to raid the cupboards, library, past pupils sketch books we also had personal shopping trips to beyond retro a vintage store just off Oxford Circus, a viewing of the photographer Nick Knight, lectures from the professors themselves. I was in a total fascination. I met some wonderful people too, who shared similar yet unique ideas about the art of today.

At the end of the 2 weeks course we were asked in groups to complete our very own fashion shoot using inspiration from some of our favourite photographers, editors and stylists. I was edging towards Grace Coddington and Patrick Demarchelier.

Team on Set.....

We took on the title Urban Warrior looking at contrasting textures, mechancial, heavy against vibrant silks. A group of 5 or 6 each individual took on a specific role. We had two photographers, a make up artist, a stylist and dresser and a model. I took on the role as modelling. I have to give it to the girl who do this professionally, but prancing around practically wearing nothing in cold conditions ain't fun. The outcome was though, I was so chuffed with the photographs I particularly think the make up artist did an amazing job she took it onto another level.. make up was on my legs, arms...it was awesome.

St Martins offers a range of courses. Helping people get there portfolio's together for a foundation course, Life Drawing or any other fine art. I have slightly got my eye on the underwear design at the moment. God it's cool!

This Vivienne Westwood Chaos Point fashion show I went to in 2008 for London Fashion week really gave me great ideas for the look we wanted on the shoot. I was working on my AS level exam at the time and incorporated everything I did from St Martins into my sketch book this was my muse page.
