Thai Botanical Garden

It was the first time I was lucky enough to witness first hand the beauty of the Chelsea flower show. For years I envied my parents as they spent afternoon's strolling around the show swarmed with friends. The opening night is famed for not actually having anything to do with the flowers but purely for social circumstances (sadly) but Tuesday is most definitely the day to go. This is when I luckily pottled all afternoon long, with the sun on my back.

The Chelsea Flower show originated as the great spring show in 1862 and has always been held for five days over May by the Royal Horticultural society. Its part of our British summer heritage along with Wimbledon, scones, cucumber sandwiches, children's sports day's, bad sun screen and people playing football shirtless in Kensington Gardens...Gotta Love the British?

The Chelsea Flower Show receives a lot of publicity. It is attended by 157,000 visitors each year from all over the world, Jack my ever gorgeous hair dresser who Im desperately trying not to fall in love with told me that he's had clients from Australia come over just for the show! Dedication! It is the garden design equivalent of a catwalk at a fashion show.

There were many gardens I was entranced by but one in particular, 'Thai Botanical Garden'.The delicacy in which they placed each petal seems impossible. The exhibit includes elephants made from intricately woven blooms. It took 800 people 33 days to build the show from bare grass to the finished article - and with this sort of beautifully orchestrated flower arrangement on display, you can understand why. Sponsored by Tourism Association of Thailand (TAT).
