Brown Thomas

I have just returned from a lovely weekend with my brother in Dublin, he is currently working hard to complete his second year at Trinity College and I embarrassingly only visited him for the first time a couple of months ago. I remember the beautiful scenery, Lansdowne Road now renamed the Aviva Stadium, LOTS of Guinness and the beautiful Brown Thomas. It's the Irish version of Harvey Nichols but honestly in the league of Henri Bendell (my all time favorite department store sadly in Manhattan). I walk inside and a wave of energy fills me with excitement, it was my hide out when struggling to deal with the prospect of returning to the house I stayed in with three boys a slightly less then hygienic environment than I was used to, I did love it though...in case the boys are reading :) I spotted my Stella leopard trousers there and have found it difficult to wear an outfit other ever since. I also spotted these AMAZING rose gold Mulberry brogues with silk cream bows. Brogue shoes are a kind I have struggled to accept over the years. I distinctly remember Alexa Chung first bringing them heavily into fashion a few years back, this closely followed by many other of my style icons Olivia Palermo, Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson. , etc.

I have been thinking about the Brogues ever since this trip in February. My friend always tells me that this is a clear sign of treasury. The item you see in a shop always looks more fabulous and glamorous when it doesn't belong to you yet, as soon as you take it home a come down often occurs, the guilt purchase...why did I buy that? I don't need it and I have a million similar items stacked up in my wardrobe. Seeing something thinking about it and coming back is often a good way to treasure something. I also find that buying something abroad makes it all the merrier, by reminding you of where you were and the happy space you were in at the time. I know now that every time I wear my shoes I will think of Dublin, Tommy, DRR, Ella, Josh, Magnus and the rest of the gang!

With love
